A Silver Award Project by Eleanor and Ellie of Troop 31602
Behind the Scenes
Our Silver Award Project took more than 60 hours of hard work. From brainstorming an idea to launching our educational videos and donating items to Ohlone Humane Society, we managed to accomplish our goals. We ultimately sent out our message of saving community cats, specifically through the TNR process. Scroll down to see the behind the scene pictures and reels throughout our Silver Award Project.
In the image above, Ms. Sarah Wood from Ohlone Humane Society showed us the trapping procedure of the TNR process. She taught us how to trap a community cat using a specific type of cage; what kind of food that is needed as bait; and so much more. We used what we learned from Ms. Sarah and the brochures she gave us to make our educational YouTube videos. In the above image, we were explaining the trapping process of TNR for our Mock Trapping Demonstration video. This was our first take. The entire final video can be found under the Educational Video section of this website (scroll to the top). The above image shows the two of us shopping at Michaels for our fundraiser project. We purchased pliers and jump rings to make our hair ties. Our other shopping place was Amazon, where we bought elastic bands and more pliers. Here we are working on our hair ties for our fundraiser. We used two different pliers to open up the jump rings and loop the charms through as well as the elastic bands. We had to be very careful not to damage the charms or the bands. Each hair tie we made is individually unique. Thank you to our customers for supporting our fundraiser. Your contribution went to a good cause! We met Ms. Diane Shaw, Vice President and Membership/Donation Manager of Ohlone Humane Society. The above photo shows Ms. Diane with the two cages we donated. They are filled with first aid kits and some cat food. These items are very useful for the TNR process. This picture also shows us wearing our custom made tee shirts for our Silver Award Project. Here is a close up of some of the items that we donated to Ohlone Humane Society. We provided some can foods, flashlights, puppy pads, paper towels, and much more.
