Silver Award Project: TNR of Community Cats

Let’s help our furry friends!

Together, we can save one cat at a time.

Our mission is to help improve the lives of community cats by minimizing their population, and to provide a safe environment for them.

Why we chose TNR?

Both of us have loved and adored cats our entire lives. We have some cute little kitties at home, but then we thought, “What about the cats outside?” That’s when we knew what we wanted to do for our Silver Award Project. We feel spreading public awareness and donating trapping supplies would help give these community cats a fighting chance to live a better life.

Why we started a fundraiser?

One way to save community cats is through TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return).  This can be an expensive process.  To help, we began a fundraiser by selling handmade hair ties with cat or dog charms attached.  Our fundraiser helps to get TNR trapping supplies for Ohlone Humane Society (the organization we’re partnering with for our Silver Award project).  These supplies range from a trapping cage to first aid kits.  Each of the customers from the fundraiser receives a business card that was personally designed by our Silver Award Team.  The card clearly states our mission and why we have the fundraiser.  We would like to thank each and every one of our customers who purchased the hair ties and supported our project to save community cats.

How is our project sustainable?

In order for us to earn our Silver Award, we must have a project that has a long-term solution and makes a sustainable impact.  Our Silver Award project goal is to educate the public about community cats and how individuals can save these cats, especially through the TNR process (Trap-Neuter-Return).  To establish that, we produced educational videos and reels about community cats and TNR in detail.  These videos and reels can be seen on our YouTube channel and this website as well.  After watching these videos and reels, we are confident that the community will have less misconceptions on community cats, and even feel more comfortable with the whole TNR process.  That is our ultimate goal: to have a long lasting and sustainable solution to helping community cats.

If you have any questions and/or comments about our project, we would love to hear them!
